background

Originally from Shippagan New Brunswick, Marie-Paule Paulin has been living in Fredericton since 1972 where she had a career as a teacher. From a very young age she had always been attracted to different kinds of artistic expressions. She has enjoyed and still loves visiting art galleries, spending hours admiring the work of different artists. Once she retired, her passion for art led her to follow her dreams and consequently she registered for classes in painting and drawing. She has had the opportunity to learn from talented and accomplished artists. Marie-Paule has discovered that self-learning and experimentation work well for her as she continuously strives to grow in her field. Almost every day, she pursues her art with enthusiasm and dedication as she paints or plans new material.

As a member of the Fredericton Society of Artists, she participates twice a year in a group exhibition. She has also had a solo exhibition in her hometown. Marie-Paule works primarily in acrylic, oil and mixed media. Her current projects include still life, landscapes and seascapes often inspired by her Acadian heritage. Sometimes her works will depict a variety of sceneries of the many places she visited while traveling.

Painting is a passion to her: it is a wonderful means of expression, a form of relaxation as well as a challenge. To create something beautiful through vibrant colors and brush stokes on a canvas, brings a real sense of achievement and joy.

"The viewer will often be moved by a painting according to his/her interests and/or life experiences.  A work of art should talk to the viewer by setting a mood, bringing up feelings and emotions which is my primary objective when working. I love to paint and I love to share the joy of painting.”
