Mary Steeves was born near Chicago Il, USA.  She immigrated to NB Canada in 1986 and now lives in Fredericton, NB. where she moved in 2019.  Most recently, Mary has found joy in watercolour painting but also enjoys acrylic, oil,  pastel and pencil and ink drawings and designs. Most of Mary’s work is more realistic in nature. Mary also makes small sculptures and mosaics using discarded and broken objects.

She earned her BFA degree in 1983 from Calvin University in Grand Rapids, MI, USA. Mary has sold several pieces including commissioned work and participated in several juried shows. Mary has reinvented herself a couple times and has been a big city girl, a dairy farmer then a nurse when she earned her nursing degree in 2011. She now works as a Mental Health nurse, counseling members of the Canadian Armed Forces.

Mary enjoys nature which is evident in much of her work. When not out exploring and photographing nature and other sites, Mary spends many of her evenings and weekends painting and looks forward to retirement when she can paint full time.

Mary does sell her paintings and is willing to take commissions on a limited basis.
